Maxim Bontemps-Gaborit is an agronomy and agri-food engineer from Institut Agro Montpellier, currently engaged in a double-degree program with a second-year MSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Innovation for Health at the University of Montpellier. Throughout his academic training, he has developed a strong interest in fermentation and food-related microbial innovation, with a particular focus on microbiota and the One Health approach.
This interest led him to carry out his final-year internship in the Food Microbial Ecology Laboratory at the Micalis Institute. Under the supervision of Julien Tap and William Bourelle, he is involved in the MicroEngine research project. His internship focuses on refining and validating microbial consortia identified through in silico modeling and experimental screening, by leveraging metatranscriptomics to unravel metabolic interactions and strain helper effects. This integrative step is crucial for identifying functional synergies between strains and for improving model predictions of strain compatibility and robustness.
