Nacer Mohellibi

Research engineer in Bioinformatics

Nacer was previously responsible for the management of genomic data through the GnpIS information system at URGI’s bioinformatics platform at INRAE. Through this experience, Nacer developed skills in project management, IS development, and data management, as well as expertise in plant genome analysis in the context of diversity studies in varietal breeding.

Since March 2020, Nacer’s position at MICALIS has allowed him to apply his knowledge in genomics to projects related to the study of microbial ecosystems. In this role, Nacer has developed skills in metagenomics and diversity analysis of microbial ecosystems, particularly in fermented foods.

Fifty percent of Nacer’s time is dedicated to FME’s team projects that study these ecosystems. Through their involvement in FME’s team, Nacer is currently involved in the MetaSimFood ANR project, MetaPDOCheese (France Genomique grant), Adamos, and a collaboration with the Museum d’histoire naturelle and MIRRI that aims to study the origin of micro-organisms in water kefir.

The other half of Nacer’s responsibilities are transversal within the Micalis institute and allows them to be involved in collaborations with other teams of Micalis and to have the role of operational data referent of the institute to promote open science principles.

Third scientific meeting of ANR metasimfood project in Palaiseau

Jul 04, 2023

The meeting was organised by sayfood partner in the brand new AgroParisTech building in Palaiseau. These two days were focussed on the milestone around the construction of the food models and construction of artificial microbial communities. We are glad that this important milestone is validated. The project will now enter a more ambitious phase, implementing synthetic ecology strategies to model microbial interactions in the project’s two models (wine and fermented vegetables). The meeting was punctuated by a very pleasant dinner at the living-room in Palaiseau.
